I like that the Ceros is light, low-profile, and easy to handle. This product gets a bit expensive and I only saw it offered in 3” and 6” disk. Cant say I have any issues with them as the original pad is pretty much mint shape. I realize there's an optional pad protector, but the conversation was more about performance and value. As you can easily see (no pun intended) you can actually see through the disk.In this line the most common offerings are the Autonet, Abranet, Abralon disk. - And other combination/moulding planes. One thing nobody's mentioned about the Abranet is the ease of changing discs: no holes to align. I do Woodworking and finishing for a living, and the Mirka products have held up to our punishing schedule. These have a thicker back and are more expensive $30-$35 for a box of 30 but because they are HD the extra expense is worth it. In my experience it doesn't last nearly as long as top quality traditional abrasive disks. Autonet has been developed for the automotive refinishing industry, fitting a wide spectrum of applications. I also ended up investing in an RO90 (oh darn. I ran out of Granat about 20lf from the end, and switched to Abranet HD 80 grit. I have been using Autonet (80, 180 and 320) which you can buy off the shelf at Austin Hardwoods in Santa Ana for about 1/3 less than Abranet. To reduce the risk of serious injury and/or damage to your Festool product, always read, understand and follow all warnings and instructions in your Festool product's Instruction Manual. I was immediately super pleased with the results and continued to sand for about 45 minutes, with the same disk on the sander. Don't do anything by half. If you're going to use the pad protector, then the cost need to be factored in since it's a wearable item. As others have mentioned the comparison should be between Abranet HD and Granat. Sorry off topic...................... but your web site is Legend. Makes for a lot of material handling when you're doing a cabinet full of drawers. I was working on flattening some panels and thought about getting the large, flat RS2 as the ETS was a little too top heavy and I’d sometimes tilt it. I pre-sand most of my work before joinery, being able to just pull off a disc, slap the sander down on the next disc and go right back to work is a big help. Festool and its affiliates cannot be responsible for improper postings or your reliance on the website's material. I then worked up through the HD grits, then to Abranet screens to 100 before painting. The longevity of the sanding disk and it s performance were superior though. Love the Log wall. Specially developed for the automotive refinishing industry, Autonet is a new-age surface finishing solution offering speed, efficiency and an amazing dust extraction ability. In general the Autonet is a few dollars less expensive so I’ve started purchasing the Autonet. I’ve been thinking about the abranet for my festool sander. To me, the Ceros is a heck of a lot better sander for my needs than the ETS150 and if I didn’t already own the RO150, there would be no reason for me to want one. I’m a die hard Festoolie and have the ETS150 and RO150 along with one of the DTS400 detail sanders. About a year ago I spoke with a Mirka rep who said the … Festool USA does not pre-approve the contents of this website nor endorse the application or use of any Festool product in any way other than in the manner described in the Festool Instruction Manual. Unfortunately, most professional reviews do not conduct long term testing, survey long term users, run detailed quality control measurements on machined parts, or try to sort out possible long term reliability issues, etc. I had the chance to pick up a Mirka Ceros (Mirka is now offering the Deros as the replacement) sander and vacuum (Mirka is now offering the compact Dust Extractor 1025 L for both wet and dry applications as the replacement). I no longer have the problem of tilting the sander as it has such a low profile. The flexible weave also allows water and air to pass freely, making it suitable for both dry and wet sanding, by machine or by hand. I saw the Ceros at Woodcraft and purchased it pretty quickly thereafter. The content contained on this site is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute professional advice. Really good review. My friend Fred taught me that relationships are like fine tool makers, what you pay is but a small part, what matters most is the time, passion, and care that was spent and the joy that you have. Autonet disk are intended for auto body work but in my test they performed as good as the Abranet (these were developed for woodworking) on wood and when you purchase the Autonet usually they are a few dollars cheaper. I was also getting some carpal tunnel from all of the sanding and work I was doing at the time. 5 years later with some serious hours on the tool, its still working perfectly.
