Noble fir is aptly named, for it is probably the largest of all the firs in terms of diameter, height and wood volume. Toward the south, other conifer associates include Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), Port-Orford-cedar (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana), western white pine (Pinus monticola), and redwood (Sequoia sempervirens).
