Whether or not this award winning sander makes sense for you can only be determined by you personally. Any time a person makes their living doing woodworking, cabinet building or finish carpentry it makes sense to use higher quality tools. My wrist could not handle pushing that hard on the sander all the time but it is very nice to know that if I need to push harder on a certain spot that the sander will power through without stalling out and creating unsightly swirl marks. In the last decade, this team has been at the cutting-edge of technology advancement and has created the DEROS and LEROS sanders, which are two of the most ergonomic and easy to use sanders on the market and are amongst Mirka’s best selling products. I had decided I had to get a good sander with EXCELLENT DUST COLLECTION CONTROL because I had a bad experience with sanding Walnut without the good dust control… it really messed me up… eyes & lungs… I could NOT go through that again! I hope and I know that you will enjoy yours. Actually I worked it in the sun with temperature well exceeding 30 deg C. The hot “cooling air” stream just could not coup with the heat release. Unless you are a master of finely tuned hand planes and cabinet scrapers, chances are you have no choice but to sand. A few days ago I was sanding an oak table outside in the yard in the shade where the temperature measured some 27-28 deg C (ca 82 deg F). The benefits that I see every time I use it for outweigh the cost. They are less $$$ as well. I tried the Deros and liked it very much, but opted for the Festool. Thanks again for your review. The power and speed was unreal! In fact you don’t even need a very powerful dust extractor to realize the benefits of its superior dust collection. This is somewhat of a disadvantage but it’s also an advantage. Although…not one speck of dust, huh?....food for thought. I now see from your review the Ceros plug in! While I did appreciate the infinitely adjustable variable speed, the over all sanding speed wasn’t really faster than a regular sander. Have you heard of the Surfprep sanding system? The Deros is so powerful that the suction from any vac on high will not affect the pad speed. I testify that it happens even at lower ambient temperatures as the 28 degC but whoever wants to work on a more permanent basis shall think twice before cashing out on Mirka. I started getting carpal tunnel from sanding vertically with the ETS150 along with having issues keeping it flat since it is so tall so I started considering the Ceros. The systainer includes a molded organizer to hold the tool and accessories. So, if you have a supply of old 5 hole paper disks THEY ARE STILL GOOD!I went through the grits… 60, 80 with older paper disks…. The Deros was tiny! I unrolled the extra long removeable and interchangeable 4m cord and plugged it in to my Festool CT36. Even though this sander may seem expensive it is a real bargain when compared to the pneumatic alternatives used in cabinet shops. Thanks for all you do in this community! All is well here. Then I switched to the Abranet disks... 120, 220, and 400 grits.All went smooth and easy! Or are the differences that great? Like dgage, I’m a big Festool fan but have discovered there are better tools out there, like the Mafel P1cc Jig Saw. This article is very useful by pointing out the characteristics and the adventages of Mirka Deros if compared to some other makes. It works perfectly! I have one of their 3 by 4 finish prep sanders and am wondering how their Trident 5″ setup stacks against deros and ro150. This and your insta posts about it sold me on this. Instead of a paper sheet with punched holes for dust collection, it is made up almost entirely of holes. -------- When you run out of ideas, start building your dreams. I did wear gloves that had open fingers… Noticed hardly any strain. Ceros requires a separate Power Supply that plugs into the wall & the Ceros is plugged into it; just more stuff to get in the way & store somewhere. This is hard to choose with is a better sander …Frestool Rotex 150 vs Mirka Deros 5650 …sounds like the Mirka may over heat but sands or has a better feel plus you get a 5 and a 6 inch head. At this point don’t need a new sander, but will look at the Ceros if the need occurs. This is a very valid point especially if hand sanding but it also fits powered sanders just as well. Since the girls help me sand some and as I have gotten older, I find the size and ergonomics to be a huge help, especially if the girls are using them. Random Orbit Sander wonderful! The numbers are for the different models according to size of pad and orbit. The 650cv is 6″ pad with 5mm orbit. I use a downdraft table on a daily basis and settled for the standard ROS. The pneumatic Sanders require incredible amounts of clean dry air. It makes sanding fun. So it is an expensive sander but for me it has replaced my aggressive and my fine Festool sanders and I don’t feel I’m missing anything. In every case it has been faster, smoother, quieter and more powerful all with near zero dust. I wish I had not been mesmerised by the beauty of this little thing and had the money for a real sander…
